What Are River Pebbles?
River pebbles are generally larger, naturally smooth pebbles that come in earthy tones ranging from browns, yellows and tans to blues, greys and whites. As an incredibly versatile type of stone, river pebbles are used in landscaping for a number of different applications.
These include creating a natural riverbed or water feature, a garden pathway, or in and around your garden bed as an effective drainage solution. Large river pebbles can also be mixed in with smaller pebbles and stones to create a more natural look. At Maroochy Sand & Gravel we stock river pebbles sizing from 20mm to 75mm as well as larger river stones.
How Do I Choose The Right landscaping Pebbles For My Garden?
When deciding on the ideal pebble for your landscaping project, it’s important to keep a few things in mind as different types of landscaping pebbles are better suited to different purposes. For example, smaller decorative pebbles and gravel are ideal for areas like driveways and parking bays, as the smaller angular stones lock together better under heavy weight. In contrast, the larger and rounder river pebbles are best suited for pathways as they are easier to walk on.
Colour is also an important consideration. For example, white garden pebbles are often used to provide a striking contrast to existing landscape or garden features. White pebbles are especially popular in contemporary garden design and for covering the tops of pots and planters.
How Much Product Will I Need?
Decorative pebble needs to be spread at a minimum of 75mm depth for best results.
